How it works

Three ways to translate your name

Unlike simple transliteration apps, we use all three methods — then let you choose.

01

Sound-Based

We match the sound of your English name to the closest natural Korean pronunciation, then shape it into a real Korean name.

Kevin → 경빈 (慶彬)

02

Meaning-Based

We look up what your name means in its original language (Latin, Greek, Hebrew, etc.) and translate that meaning into Korean.

Victoria (victory) → 승아 (勝雅)

03

Hybrid

First syllable from your name's sound, second syllable from its meaning. The most creative and uniquely Korean approach.

Luna (moon) → 하월 (夏月)

For Chinese & Japanese names

Your name already uses Hanja characters (漢字). We read them in Korean pronunciation — giving you the most authentic result possible.

田中 (Tanaka) → 전중 → refined into 전하윤

2-Person Set with 돌림자

In Korean families, siblings share one syllable across their names. We apply this to friend groups and couples too — one shared character, two unique identities.

Emma + James → 은아 + 은혁 (both share 은)

사주 궁합

FAQ

Common questions

Is this a real Korean name?

Yes. All names generated follow authentic Korean naming conventions — real surnames, real given-name syllables, real hanja. Native Koreans would recognise these as genuine names.

Why is the paid version better?

Free gives you 2 options. Paid gives you 6 — across all three methods — plus hanja analysis, pronunciation guide, and a high-res calligraphy card to share.

What is hanja?

Hanja (한자) are Chinese characters used in Korean names. Each Korean name syllable has one or more possible hanja with different meanings — choosing the right one is part of what makes a name meaningful.

What is 돌림자 (donglimja)?

A traditional Korean practice where siblings or members of the same generation share one syllable in their names. We apply this to friend groups and 2-person sets for a cohesive feel.

Do you store my data?

No. Nothing is sent to a server. Name generation runs entirely in your browser. No account, no tracking, no data collection.
